“It’s Batman by michaelm artist / philosopher© 1986 Black Light Art - Brush & airbrush watercolor on poster board - 18" x 24" poster board. Analog slide & digital photography My children spent their youth with this exterior shadow box. After years of practice with the DC Dark Knight, I drew the character, cut it out and glued 2" foam spacers behind it. Then I attached the cutout to the completed background. I fixed a magic knot behind the fists and drew a string through them up to the bedroom ceiling where I pinned the magic knot at the other end. Whenever they awoke, the shimmering fluorescent image pierced the darkest of nights to assure, oversee and protect their world, awake or asleep. The 3 Dimensional curling of the poster board was a natural response to the weight of the dried water color and the mass that made the cut. A happy and welcomed accident.
